Red Oak
Is the most common hardwood in North America. The sapwood of red oak is white to light brown and the heartwood is a pinkish reddish brown. It is hard, open grained, heavy, tough and strong. Due to its porous nature it will soak up stain but also gives a wide variety of finish effects.
